Big Baby Reps LSU

Thursday, July 29, 2010 , Posted by Coach KB at 8:40 PM

Gonna keep this short and sweet. Just want to give a shout out to "Big Baby" Glen Davis for repping dem LSU Tigers. I found myself at work today, stuck in yet another SEC inspired disagreement with fellow Arkansas and Ole Miss graduates. A common verbal rant thrown at my direction is in reference to a recent collosal bust, number one pick, who graduated from LSU and enjoys sippin on SIZ-IZ-Ur-UP!

As much as Jamarcus continues to ruin LSU's credibility, Big Baby has helped promote it. As lazy and unmotivated as Jamarcus has been, Big Baby has been equally motivated and succesful.

While Jamarcus blew away 32 million dollars worth of Al Davis' money, Big Baby got to work, avoided late night trips to Krispy Kreme  and has been a key component to the Boston Celtics recent trips to the NBA finals.

And he sure has enterntained us along the way.

Big Baby has to be far and away the most intriguing player in the NBA from a facial expression standpoint. I mean, those close ups of him in the NBA finals were priceless. Foaming from the mouth one minute, trademark tounge thing the next, laughing his butt off in the next frame, and carrying fellow shrek castmante, Nate Robinson (donkey), on his back a minute later.

In his brief NBA career, three seasons, he has already provided us with three priceless youtube moments.

The first, is from his rookie year when Kevin Garnett literally made him cry on the end of the bench.

The second is an absolutely hysterical video of him hitting the game winning shot against Orlando, and proceeding to trample some poor kid sitting court side. (you will have to fast forward to the end of the clip to get a good shot.)

And last but not least, this video from last years playoffs where he suffered a concussion from Dwight Howards elbow and than boldy attempts to catch up the celtic offense. (for added hilarity, make sure to watch Doc Rivers on the Celitcs sideline)

Unlike stars of LSU past such as Tryus Thomas and Stromile Swift, Big Baby has been a delight to watch and a class act in the NBA. He was a star in college, but he has now accepted his role as a role player on a championship caliber team. Its not suprise to me that Big Baby, not Jamarcus, is the more sucesful LSU Tiger. Having had classes with both, it was always clear that Big Baby was destined for bigger better things.

While Jamarcus consistently strolled into class late, if he choose to show up at all, Big Baby attended all classes, and left favorable impressions with the professors. As Jamarcus wondering eyes boosted his GPA, (Ask my cousin Megan, who had more to do with Russells 3.3 GPA than any football tutor ever did) Big baby was the one who put in the work and did things the right way.

On campus, Jamarcus hung out with his crew in the quad. He was reserved and did not interact with the student body to much. Big Baby on the other hand, could be seen all over campus. Most notably in the Student Rec center, where he would challenge students to shooting contests and games of horse.

So, as a fellow LSU graduate, who attended school at the same time as Ruseell and Big Baby, i just want to give a proud shout out to BIg Baby Glen Davis. Rep that 225 baby.
