Chris Paul Trade Breakdown

Chris Paul has requested a trade, and he deserves it. But he wont get it. Heres why.

No PG-less team is ready to mortgage their future to win this year. NY wont win this year and can just by him after this season. OK City would be an ideal move as they have a lot of cap room and are sifting threw an over crowded bench. It would be easy to put together a net money gain trade, but OK is not ready to win this season either (LA will cock block for at least one more year), and like NY, they could buy him after the season. The only reason i can see is to get ahead of the game in attracting a star out of next seasons lucrative free agents.

Logistics aside, Paul's ego will be his own worst enemy. He has openly stated that he wants to be on a super team that will rival Miami, and the two teams in the best position to do that (NY, OK), are a year away. If he waits until the end of the season, he can get all the attention and get his own 1 hour special. Requesting a trade just isn't the same.

One thing we do know, is he wont stay in NO. They have done nothing to make him think that they can putt a winning team around him. Lastly, NO is not a spotlight team, neither is Milwake, (an interesting situation) and Kevin Durrant would cast a tall (but skinny) shadow over him.

Final analysis:
66% Paul plays this year in NO, get ousted in first round, signs with NY.
22% Paul gets "injured" and becomes an ego cancer causing NO to make a bad, rushed trade.
12% Paul shuts up and plays hard, after an amazing first half, NO makes some moves and brings in some ring hunting veterans and pull an 08 Celtics into the Eastern championship where they take the division in a 5-1 stunner over Miami, riding high they hit LA in the mouth with a quick 2 wins to open the finals. The Lakers rally and overpower the aging Hornets and win 4 in a row, solidifying them as the best team since MJ's bulls.

That last one is the BEST possible situation. and Paul will still walk away to NY or OK.
